We were very fortunate with Tran and Luke’s outdoor wedding, one of the last weddings we were able to execute before impending restrictions of the pandemic in Sydney. Tran’s vision was to have a beautiful wedding set outside among the pristine and manicured lawns of the Quadrangle at University of Sydney, with tall lush greenery and their guests seated beneath the stars.
It was such a dream-like setting being surrounded by the University’s historic Victorian architecture with immense sandstone buildings, the iconic clock tower and the sound of ringing church bells. This wedding venue is the perfect backdrop for stunning wedding videos and photography, especially in the evening with the setting sun.
We set up long king tables on the stone footpaths leading into the centre of the quadrangle in a cross shape towards a tree installation in the centre. We thought the tree could be a great feature for guests to be able to dance around and just have a wonderful time. The whole night was absolutely magical!
Luscious greenery and foliage set the tone for this gorgeous outdoor wedding. This centrepiece arrangement is quite simple but perfectly complemented the outdoor scenery of the University, especially with the added magical touch of hanging festoon lighting.
Festoon lighting is a great feature for outdoor weddings as they can be draped between pillars or under pergolas for a cascading effect, so we used lots and lots of it for Tran and Luke’s wedding styling. We thought this would look really magical hanging over the white dancefloor.
They do a wonderful job at lighting up the evening and also set quite a romantic ambience.
We love styling outdoor weddings, though they can be very unpredictable due to the weather on the day. As long as we plan in advance and prepare for every outcome, it can be a great success. Luke and Tran got lucky with both the weather and being able to have a wedding before lockdown.
