Captivating contrasts of light and dark spellbind at the Ivy Ballroom
Charlie and Lauren’s elegant wedding at the Ivy Ballroom is an exciting contrast of white and peachy tones against black that complements the colour palette of the venue. We absolutely loved styling this combination of different mediums to create a hypnotic and visually appealing wedding reception.
It’s hard to miss gorgeous peachy silk canopies delicately draping above the dancefloor that is circus inspired and so luxurious. To theme, these bright features are contrasted with black hanging tassels and dark moody vines evocative of an enchanted forest. The look for the ceiling installation is complete with beautiful bright bursts of peach and white baby’s breath with magical fairy lights to draw attention to all these wonderful details.
Our floral bouquet arrangements are just as quirky with a play of varying textures of fresh wedding flowers. A stunning combination of white and peachy roses, phalaenopsis orchids, carnations and baby’s breath fill the bouquets. They are exquisitely lavished with dry pampas grass, ruscus leaves and black painted leaves for that voluminous and textured finish.
The Ivy Ballroom is an astonishing 509 square metre wedding
reception venue with a grand staircase entrance and six-metre-high ceilings
perfect for over-the-top ceiling installations and big wedding parties.
“Flowing contrasts”
Contrasts can sometimes be stark, but our goal was to create a woven and flowing contrast to maintain the softness and elegance of Charlie and Lauren’s wedding. While the arrangements pop among a black backdrop, within each is subtle blending and hints of black leaves to bond the theme.
Gorgeous contrasts come down to the very details of black tablecloths and peach table runners flowing to the floor, black chairs against white plates, and black candles to illuminate the brightness of the ambient candlelight.
